How to Back or Attack a Statement with a Bet Offer

BetBacked lets you bet on whether a specific statement or the entire page at a URL will be found fair or misleading, in the unanimous opinion of three experts.

To bet, you create a bet contest or find a contest, and then commit money on FAIR or MISLEADING.

To back a statement, you bet on FAIR. To attack one, you bet on MISLEADING.

With your bet offer, you both describe the content you're betting about and provide your opinion about it. Your offer is betspeech.

All the bet offers about specified content make up a betspeech market, in which bettors collectively describe that content as FAIR or MISLEADING.

Observers can see what the market thinks, by seeing how many people have bet on FAIR, how many have bet on MISLEADING, and how much money has been wagered on each description.

In this sense, BetBacked is a lie detector for the Internet, allowing people to check a URL and see whether the betspeech market deems the content at that URL to be fair (not a lie) or misleading (a form of lie).

Each contest (betspeech market) has a static URL you can link to.
